'Heroines Honoured'
AGGS student Sabrina Parsons and her friend Amohia Afeaki have been awarded the Gilt Cross for gallantry, the first time that this top scouting award has been made in NZ. The girls, both members of the Sea Scouts were given the award for their efforts in rescuing two adult swimmers who were struggling in a rip at Matauri Bay, north of Keri-keri. In her speech when giving the award, the NZ Scouts National Commissioner said "at 15 years old they acted with maturity and courage well beyond their years. They knowingly put themselves at risk, not recklessly, but for the good of others."
Congratulations to 'old girl' Linda Filimoehala
Linda is one of three finalists who will perform the Euphonium Concerto by Joseph Horovitz at the University of Auckland's School of Music annual Graduation Gala Concerto Competition at the Town Hall on 9 May.
