The Learning Centre is staffed by a team of professionals whose focus is the individual learning needs of all students. Students from Years 9-13, who are referred by their teachers, attend the Centre for a variety of reasons. It is here that students are given opportunities to examine their own learning strategies and develop new ones.

Generally students attending the Learning Centre have been referred by their teacher. They work on programmes designed to meet their individual needs.

Individual literacy and numeracy assessments can be requested for any student who is experiencing difficulties in certain aspects of learning and follow up support may be given to the development of appropriate programmes.

Teacher Aides are available to support some students within mainstream classes.

Support for students with special abilities and talents These students will participate in regular support meetings, and be invited to take part in a variety of extension and enrichment opportunities. An individual learning plan will be developed in consultation with the student and other key people to track their progress.

Extra support for students experiencing difficulties in individual subjects is also provided within the faculties along with the learning centre programmes providing life skills, literacy and numeracy.

Cafeteria

We have a Cafeteria at Auckland Girls.  Both hot and cold food and beverages are available at breakfast, recess and lunch times.  The Cafeteria is open from 8am each day.  We endeavour to promote a healthy menu for our students and encourage girls to take advantage of a reasonably priced healthy option.
