Anniversary Celebrations

AGGS 125th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS (31st May -  2nd June 2013)

We are planning a wonderful weekend of celebrations to mark our school’s 125th anniversary. We hope that  many of our former students and staff will join us for one or more of the planned events.

We will be accepting registrations for the cocktail party and Sunday lunch until Friday 10 May. We have had a huge demand for tickets and because of space, will need to close registrations for these events by Friday 10 May.

We will be accepting registrations for the Saturday night dinner until Wednesday 15 May when registrations will close.

Our Alumnae page has details of the events we are planning and further information about costs for these events will be added soon.  To assist with our planning, you are invited to register your interest. You can do this on our Alumnae page or, if you prefer, by post to:

AGGS Trip to Thai Sister School - Kalasin Pittaysan School

From 22 February to 2 March 14 AGGS students from Years 10-13 went to Thailand accompanied by Libby Giles (Sister Schools Coordinator) and Sarah Anderson (Member of the Board of Trustees).

Our journey began with guided sightseeing in Bangkok - the Grand Palace and Temple of Emerald Buddha, followed by a long boat ride on the river and a very steep ascent to an ancient temple on the river bank.
Back on the boat for a canal ride to view city life on the water—an enormous range of house styles, floating cafes and traders.  Then some intensive shopping and a thrilling night time tuk tuk ride back to the hotel.

Young Physicists Tournament

On the 9th March 2013, AGGS's team of seven girls competed in the New Zealand Young Physicists Tournament!) Rocking up to Kristin College at 8:30am on a Saturday morning was no easy feat, and neither was coming a solid seventh out of sixteen teams in total. Shivani Nilkund, Nadia Rim, Namratha Giridharan, Gloria Wang and speakers Grace Williams , Susanna Lees-Watts and Clare Wu fought a good fight, placing higher than St Cuthbert's, Kristin, Lynfield and a few other schools.

Auckland Grammar were the school to beat, taking out first, second and third place! Competing on the day made all of the lunchtimes and after schools spent preparing very worthwhile. The three physics 'fights' that look place were intense, mentally stimulating and surprisingly, very fun! Being the only speakers in colourful mufti while everyone else was in uniform also made us appear as a breath of fresh air from the crowd. Congratulations to all the girls for representing AGGS well. The team wishes to say a big thank you to Ms Rhode and Ms New for all of their guidance, help and support.
