At Auckland Girls’ Grammar School, our curriculum is designed to be dynamic and responsive to the diverse needs of our students. We offer a broad foundation in the junior years, ensuring students are exposed to a wide range of subjects and experiences that foster academic achievement, personal growth, and a love for learning. As students progress, they are empowered to make informed choices from an expanding array of subjects in their senior years, allowing them to explore their strengths, passions, and future aspirations.
Transitioning to secondary school is a significant step, and our Year 9 programme is designed to enhance this transition and lay the foundations for future academic success by offering a broad and experiential programme.
Students in the mainstream will experience English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Health and Physical Education, Technology, Arts and a choice of a Language (French, Japanese, Samoan, Te Reo Maori) in their first year at Auckland Girls’ Grammar School.
Students in Nga Tūmanako o Kahurangi will study Te Reo Māori, Te ao Haka, Tikanga-a-iwi, English, Mathematics, Science, Arts and Technology as students of Auckland Girls’ Grammar School.
In Year 10 students in the mainstream continue with their compulsory studies of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education and Health; they also study a combination of up to four additional semester subjects from the Arts: Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Ar; Technology: Design & Visual Communication, Digital Technology, Hospitality, Textiles, Product Design; or a full year of Language (French, Japanese, Samoan, Tongan and Te Reo Māori).
Year 10 students in Nga Tūmanako o Kahurangi continue their will studies of Te Reo Māori, Te ao Haka, Tikanga-a-iwi, English, Mathematics, Science, Arts and Technology and an additional subject from the Arts and Technology Faculties.
