To equip our girls for the world, Auckland Girls’ Grammar School conducts career education at every year level, providing numerous opportunities for career learning. We aim to build career competencies from a young age, equipping students with the confidence and resilience they need to navigate their futures.
We support students in pursuing any career they aspire to. Throughout the year, we host a variety of events, including University and Trade Expos, to open our students’ eyes to all the possibilities that exist beyond school.

Students at Auckland Girls’ Grammar School have the opportunity to explore a variety of industries through our Gateway program. Options include construction, hairdressing, customer service, cookery, and more.
While gaining practical experience in the workplace, students complete assessments specific to their chosen industry. This work earns them NCEA credits (an average of 20 credits per student), some of which can be applied toward apprenticeships after graduation.
The Gateway program is fully funded by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), covering any necessary uniforms, equipment, and even transport costs.
Students interested in the program are interviewed by the Gateway Co-ordinator to ensure their suitability for the work placement. Candidates are expected to maintain good school attendance and show a genuine passion for their chosen industry.
