e Rā Whakanui i te Whā Tekau Tau o Kahurangi ki Maungawhau: 40 Year Celebration
Our school community gathered at Kahurangi ki Maungawhau to celebrate the beginning of a year-long commemoration marking 40 years of Kahurangi. It was a special and memorable occasion, made even more meaningful by the presence and support of tangata whenua, Ngāti Whātua ki Ōrākei, alongside Rev. George Davis and Old Girls who were part of the early years of Kahurangi in the 1980s.
The day brought together past and present members of the Kahurangi whānau, staff, students, and members of the wider school community. One of the most powerful moments of the celebration was hearing Old Girls share their stories and memories of Kahurangi, giving our current students a deeper understanding of the legacy they are part of today.
The celebration marks not just the history of Kahurangi, but the strength, resilience, and cultural pride that has been nurtured within this space for four decades.
These celebrations will continue throughout the year and will culminate in February 2027 with the 40-year celebration of Ngā Tūmanako o Kahurangi.
E tū Kahurangi. Kia wana!
