Our language is a vital part of our Tongan culture. 🌺
AGGS opened Tongan Language Week with hymns, prayers, action songs, and speeches in Tongan, a service led by our incredible Year 12 and 13 Tongan classes.
Joined by Principal Ngaire, Deputy Principal Helen Long, Enrolment Officer Lilly Stowers, and Student Services Director Maggie Hames, the service shone a light on the importance of empowering our fānau to embrace and practise our cultural customs in lea faka-Tonga.
A celebration of language, culture, and pride.

A gift of music for AGGS 🎶
We’re excited to share that AGGS has received 2 new violins, generously donated by the Noteable Foundation, a charity founded this year by Auckland high school student Henry Wong to support school music programmes.
This wonderful gift supports our brand-new String Ensemble, which meets every Wednesday at 11am. If you’re a violinist, violist, cellist, or double bass player, we’d love for you to join.

🌿 Exploring Tongariro National Park 🌿
Our 13GEO class headed to Mt Ruapehu for their ‘Conducting Geographic Research with Consultation’ assessment, measuring vegetation at five altitudes to study how plant life adapts to different conditions.
The journey included learning about local history, climate impacts and vegetation zones, plus pitstops at Tirau and Huka Falls.
It was a hands-on learning adventure that brought classmates closer and left everyone wanting to go back again.
September marks the beginning of spring in Aotearoa. Take a look around AGGS with us as we welcome the new season. 🌸
2026 Enrolments
Out of zone enrolments close on Wednesday, August 27th. In the event that applications exceed places available, a ballot will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd.
If the number of applications exceeds the number of places available, a ballot will be held on Wednesday September 3rd, 2025.
Ballot Priorities
Applicants are accepted in this order as defined by the Ministry of Education:
(1) First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school
(2) Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student at the school
(3) Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school
(4) Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school
(5) Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the Board of the school, or a child of a member of the Board of the school
(6) Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
