In AGGS’ April Video Profile, 2026 Associate Principal Maree Flannery reflects on stepping into a new leadership role and helping guide the school’s vision for the year ahead.
Now in her 16th year at Auckland Girls’ Grammar School, Maree begins 2026 as Associate Principal, working at a more strategic level alongside Principal Ngaire Ashmore and the Senior Leadership Team. She describes the appointment as both a privilege and an honour and speaks with deep pride about the school community she has helped serve for many years.
Maree reflects on AGGS’ near perfect academic results in 2025 and the momentum that continues to build across the school. She speaks warmly about the commitment of both staff and students, and the way AGGS continues to achieve exceptional outcomes by working together and keeping every learner at the centre.
She also shares insight into the support structures behind that success, including the tutor programme, close communication with whānau, targeted mentoring, and a school wide approach to responding to student needs with care and intention. For Maree, these systems are not just about results. They are about making sure every student is seen, supported, and given the opportunity to reach her full potential.
At the heart of her message is a belief that defines AGGS: when people work together with purpose, courage and care, students flourish. Her vision for 2026 is to keep building on that momentum and to continue supporting every girl to thrive.
